The renovation, design, and execution of a century-old historic residence were entrusted to Saye Architects Office to transform it into a contemporary family home. The project began with a design concept rooted in respect for the building’s history, original structure, and valuable architectural details.
The Dastan Historic House, renowned for its distinctive brickwork and a poetic, sculptural staircase, served as the central inspiration for the design. The interior spaces—including the kitchen, living room, bedrooms, and study—were arranged according to the existing structural logic, while a winter garden was added to enhance the spatial experience. The interior furniture was designed based on Persian design principles and complemented with family antiques, blending tradition with modern comfort.
During the restoration process, previously hidden elements, such as an old water reservoir and a historic courtyard fountain, were uncovered and integrated into the design through careful restoration and subtle lighting. The final result is a harmonious fusion of history and modernity, where the spirit of the past continues to live within a refined, contemporary setting.
