Designing a 24-hour gym that could serve clients around the clock was an exciting challenge commissioned to Saye Architecture Office. The project is located in Portimão, a vibrant coastal city in southern Portugal known for its energetic nightlife. The interior design was shaped around functional zoning and user flow, while the conceptual development aimed to create a high-tech and futuristic environment aligned with the gym’s dynamic identity.
A key design gesture is the undulating ceiling element, conceived as a fluid, independent surface detached from the solid walls. This sculptural ceiling creates a sense of motion and energy, contrasting with the dark, monolithic walls clad in sleek, solid materials. The interplay between these two architectural elements defines a visually stimulating and immersive atmosphere that reflects both power and rhythm.
Although the project subtly references ancient architectural forms in its spatial composition, its overall language is distinctly forward-looking, rooted in the aesthetics of innovation and technology. The result is a futuristic fitness environment that merges physical energy with architectural sophistication—an experience that feels both grounded and visionary.
