The renovation of a residential house in the cultural heart of Tehran for the Art Gallery project was fully designed and executed by Saye Architecture Office. Spanning three floors, the project includes an entrance and information area, the main gallery hall, an art shop, the gallery office, design studios, and a café.
The art shop and office spaces were designed to be easily converted into independent suites with art residency facilities. The café also functions as a small restaurant, and all parts of the complex are connected by a serene Japanese-style garden courtyard.
The main exhibition hall can be divided into smaller sections for different artists or opened up as one continuous space for larger shows. The highlight of the design is a mystical space at the end of the gallery—featuring hanging plants and a reflecting pool set against concrete walls and floors—that serves as a peaceful pause point for visitors.
Natural light plays a central role, with skylights and controlled openings providing balanced illumination while enhancing the architectural experience. The design of this project maintains a deep connection to the city’s cultural and architectural heritage.
